Nippon Visions
NIPPON VISIONS is the place for unconventional perspectives. For example: calm and concentrated, but touching nonetheless, like THE NIGHT I SWAM. Or excessive, energetic, and challenging, like WILDERNESS. Or as an attempt to cross the borders between film and theater, like ICE CREAM AND THE SOUND OF RAINDROPS. Sometimes serious, analyzing the collective psyche of a nation – at other times crazy, without fears of ironic wackiness. NIPPON VISIONS offers space for newcomers, while also featuring experienced filmmakers who leave their comfort zone. It’s all about experiment and exploration. Last but not least, selected short film gems will raise your appetite for more cinematic adventures.
Two awards are offered in the NIPPON VISIONS and NIPPON DOCS section. The NIPPON VISIONS JURY AWARD consists of a free subtitling, sponsored by the Japan Visualmedia Translation Academy (JVTA). The NIPPON VISIONS AUDIENCE AWARD is funded by Japanisches Kultur- und Sprachzentrum e.V. in Frankfurt and endowed with 1,000 €.
