Sadistic feudal lord Matsudaira rapes a woman and kills her husband. Due to his position as the younger brother to the shogun, the affair is hushed up. A government official considers the continuous misconduct a threat to the samurai class and secretly hires Shinzaemon to assassinate the lord. This opens a compelling, elaborately produced game of cat-and-mouse, which was remade in 2010 by Takashi MIIKE.
