Many Japanese consider themselves part of an ethnically homogenous nation, even though minorities exist within their society. Ethnologist and expert for Japanese culture Dr. Hans-Dieter Ölschleger will illustrate the situation of such minorities via the example of the Ainu, an indigenous group struggling against discrimination.
