The delicate sound of the shakuhachi, the japanese bamboo flute, is famous for its unique and entrancing tone. It is the traditional mediational tool of zen buddhist monks, but has also found use in classical and popular music. Jim Franklin is one of the few people in Europe who have a master title in the instrument. As a composer he has written numerous solo pieces for shakuhachi. The workshop will offer you the chance to try out this instrument for yourselves and to experience a part of Japanese history and spirituality.
