The ronin Sanjuro encounters a group of young samurai in an abandoned shrine. They suspect that the advisor of their daimyo, Mutsuda, is corrupt. It turns out however, that the clan’s supervisor, Kikui, is guilty, and is trying to pin it on Mutsuda, whom he has kidnapped. Sanjuro agrees to help finding Mutsuda and bringing Kikui to justice. Because of the big success of YOJIMBO, KUROSAWA put the popular character Sanjuro back on screen one year later.
