  • Lecture in German
  • Thursday, May 31, 14:00 Mousonturm Studio 3

Japanese comics have their own, distinct language. When translated into German, it should sound just as witty or lurid as in the original work. John Schmitt-Weigand and Gandalf Bartholomäus are specialists on the matter. By means of examples, they will lift the lid on the translation of manga and demonstrate how to avoid linguistic pitfalls and how to master onomatopoeia, slang, and curtness. The talk will be moderated by translator Karin Betz.
