Actress Shinobu TERAJIMA receives Nippon Honor Award 2018
Award ceremony on June 3, 2018 at the 18th Nippon Connection Film Festival
Shinobu TERAJIMA, one of the most renowned Japanese actresses, will receive the NIPPON HONOR AWARD at the 18th Nippon Connection Film Festival in Frankfurt am Main. The award will be given out for the fourth time and honors personalities who have made outstanding contributions to Japanese film. The award ceremony will take place during the closing event of the Nippon Connection Festival on June 3, 7:45 p.m. at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm. Actress Shinobu TERAJIMA will receive the NIPPON HONOR AWARD in person, giving the festival a glamorous finale with the screening of the romantic drama The City of Betrayal by Daisuke MIURA. With Oh Lucy! by Atsuko HIRAYANAGI, Dear Etranger by Yukiko MISHIMA, and Vibrator by Ryuichi HIROKI, the Nippon Connection Film Festival presents further milestones of her impressive career. The NIPPON HONOR AWARD is kindly supported by Japan Airlines.
About Shinobu Terajima
Shinobu TERAJIMA was born in Kyoto in 1972 and is one of the most popular and respected actresses in Japan. Being the daughter of famous kabuki actor Kikugoro ONOE, she got in touch early with theater and could be seen on stage regularly besides her work for cinema and television. Apart from many important Japanese film awards, she also received the award as best actress at Berlinale in 2010 for her role in Caterpillar by Koji WAKAMATSU. At our filmmaker’s talk, taking place at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm on June 3, 2018, at 3 p.m., Shinobu TERAJIMA will provide some insights into her work and will answer questions from the audience as well.
The Festival
The 18th Japanese Film Festival Nippon Connection takes place from May 29 to June 3, 2018 in Frankfurt am Main and showcases more than 100 films from Japan. The festival is under the patronage of Peter Feldmann, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main, and the Consul General of Japan in Frankfurt am Main. Festival centers are located at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Theater Willy Praml in der Naxoshalle. Further events take place at Mal Seh’n Kino, the German Film Museum, at Atelier Naxoshalle, and Ausstellungsraum Eulengasse.
